Until recently, I didn’t either. Someone contacted me and introduced me to the term, and it instantly struck a chord. I realised it’s exactly what we’ve been creating with Dry Dolly all along, I just didn’t know there was a name for it.

Passive cooling is about staying cool and comfortable without mechanical systems like air conditioning. It is about natural airflow, breathable fabrics, and smart design. And in a world that’s heating up, it’s becoming more and more important.

Where Fashion Has Fallen Behind

For decades, innovation in fashion has been obsessed with insulation, keeping us warm in Arctic expeditions, mountain climbs, or wintry commutes. Yet there’s been far less focus on helping people stay cool in hot climates or everyday heatwaves. That gap has only grown as our world warms and our reliance on energy hungry cooling systems increases.

Where Dry Dolly Comes In

What started as a solution to the everyday frustration of slipping towels or heavy dressing gowns after a shower has grown into something bigger. Dry Dolly is lightweight towel apparel that:

Why This Matters

As summers get hotter, passive cooling fashion will no longer be a nice to have. It will become essential. Just as architects are being pushed to design buildings that breathe and cool naturally, fashion has to step up and innovate with breathable fabrics, cooling clothing, and sustainable apparel for hot, humid environments.

That’s why I’m so proud of what we’ve created. Dry Dolly may have started as a simple idea between two sisters, but it is already proving to be a part of this bigger movement.
